IBM iSCSI Parameter API
IBM BladeCenter blades are able to boot from iSCSI using no additional hardware - a feature known as iSCSI Software Initiator.
When using the iSCSI Software Initiator, the only tool available from IBM to program the iSCSI boot parameters is a java tool known as the iSCSI Configuration Manager. This tool communicates via the AMM to program the iSCSI boot parameters for the blade.
However, there may be situations where this is not sufficient. The owner of the blade may not have access to the Chassis AMM.
Net Direct has written a C++ API that applications can use to program the iSCSI boot parameters on a blade directly without going through the AMM. It accomplishes this by going directly to the BMC processor via IPMI.
